Thereafter, in 1972 the United Nations Environment Programme was convened. UNEP is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative

The mission of the Environmental Programme is to leave a better world to the next generations while boosting the quality of life, with the partnership of the member states.

The UNEP committee will mainly focus on minimizing the effects of climate change and natural disasters in developing and under-developed countries as it is stated in the agenda.
